Joss continued his Champions of the Future Academy campaign with an outstanding weekend at Larkhall in Scotland, securing two podium finishes and a major points haul in Round 3 of the championship.
The weekend did not start as planned, with wet conditions in the opening sessions leaving Joss searching for pace and almost two seconds away from the front runners. However, as the track conditions evolved and confidence grew, Joss made significant progress throughout the event, transforming his pace to become one of the drivers to beat by the time racing got underway.
Competing against a small, but highly competitive grid packed with talented young drivers, Joss demonstrated impressive speed, determination, and consistency throughout the weekend, firmly establishing himself amongst the front runners.
Day 1 began with a strong qualifying performance, placing Joss P5 on the grid. He carried that momentum into the heats, producing two excellent drives to finish P3 and P5. In the Final, Joss continued to battle at the sharp end of the field, delivering another composed performance to secure a well-deserved P3 finish and his first podium of the weekend.
Day 2 saw Joss take another step forward. A superb qualifying session earned him P2, placing him right in contention from the outset. He followed this with a strong P4 finish in Heat 1 before producing one of the standout moments of the weekend in Heat 2.
Joss executed a bold around-the-outside overtake that drew praise from the live commentary and showcased the confidence and racecraft he has developed throughout the season. The move helped secure another P3 finish and maintained his momentum heading into the Final.
In the Final, Joss continued his impressive form, fighting at the front throughout the race before taking the chequered flag in first place. Unfortunately, a post-race penalty altered the result, demoting him to P3 in the final classification. While the outcome was disappointing, the performance itself underlined the pace, determination, and maturity Joss displayed all weekend.
The double podium marked one of Joss' strongest weekends of the season and delivered a significant boost in the championship standings. The valuable points gained at Larkhall see him climb six places to P5 overall, putting him firmly in the mix heading into the final round of the championship.
With just one round remaining at Whilton Mill in August, Joss heads into the season finale full of confidence and momentum, determined to finish the year on a high.
